Bike-to-Work Celebration
Bike-to-Work Week is May 14-18 and is capped off by the Bike-to-Work Celebration. In case you're hesitant about the feasibility of biking to work you should check out LEO writer Stephen George's experiment about living and working without a car in Louisville. His short time without a car confirms that it's totally possible to get around via biking, walking and TARCing.
The 2007 Bike-to-Work Louisville Celebration will be held from 11 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. on Friday, May 18 in Jefferson Square Park (corner of 6th and Jefferson Streets). With anticipated attendance of over 1000 people, this year's Celebration looks to be the best yet with all sorts of free goodies: food, drinks, music, prizes, and - of course - valet bicycle parking.
Bike to Work DayOn the more serious side (though the free gifts and prizes will be seriously useful), we will provide information on bicycle commuting including personalized route selection, coaching on how to dress and clean up, information on bike lanes and shared-lanes, helmet fitting, and other details to get you started riding to work or to simply make your existing cycle commute easier and more enjoyable.
We'll see you there, and don't forget to ride to work on Friday the 18th!
