Provençal Farm Dinner at Happy Jack's Pumpkin Farm in Frankfort
Holly Hill Inn in Midway is presenting their second annual Provençal Farm Dinner at Happy Jack's Pumpkin Farm in Frankfort. Granted, Frankfort is a little bit beyond Consuming Louisville's normal domain but this sounds like such a fun event I had to write about it.
Join us as we move our kitchen out to Lee Ann and Richard Jones' beautiful farm just off U.S. 421. We'll pull out our collection of cast-iron skillets and cook just-picked vegetables over an open fire. Munch on crispy squash blossoms and corn fritters while you sip on a glass of Chardonnay. We're grilling local chicken and locally raised pork chops along with all kinds of delicious vegetables from the fields. Look at the stars, catch lightning bugs, listen to good music and drink a little wine out on the farm. Cash bar. This event is part of our Culinary Adventure Series. 7 p.m. $35
Bummed does not begin to describe my attitude toward having to miss this. Great chefs cooking with local, fresh ingredients outdoors under the stars? That sounds incredible. Sadly we're already booked on Saturday. We're going to a picnic with my partner's new work colleagues. And their children. No Pumpkin Farm Provençal dinner for us. Just because I have to miss out doesn't mean you have to. Get thee to the pumpkin farm this weekend.
