Henry Wallace Brigade Fundraiser at The Alternative
This is the first time I've heard of the Henry Wallace Brigade but the organization's work intrigues me and this sounds like an interesting event.
The Henry Wallace Brigade will hold a music and dance celebration extravaganza on Saturday, December 22nd to launch its public fundraising for a return trip to Cuba in 2008. On that trip, the Brigade will assist in the construction and renovation of the Henry Wallace Center for the Elderly. The celebration, starting at 7 PM will feature live music, dance and poetry, as well as photography, arts and crafts available for last-minute holiday buying. The Alternative, at 1032 Story Avenue in Louisville is hosting the event. The Henry Wallace Brigade traveled to Cuba the first time in December 2006, as a tribute to their namesake, long-time Prospect, Kentucky resident Henry Wallace who was well-known for his ardent support of revolutionary Cuba, was also a farmer, social justice activist, and founder of Henry's Ark Animal Refuge in Prospect.
