New Year's Even at Proof on Main

The press release for Proof on Main's New Year's Eve event has arrived and it's made me hungry.

Celebrate New Year’s at downtown Louisville’s most fashionable venues, Proof on Main and 21c Museum Hotel. Proof executive chef Michael Paley offers two ways to usher in the New Year. An al la carte menu is available from 5:30 – 7 p.m. featuring Proof signature items. At 9 p.m., a specially designed four-course prix-fixe menu, including a midnight champagne toast and party favors, is available. The cost of the 9 p.m. four-course dinner is $121, not including tax or gratuity, and allows guests to keep their table for the entire evening. To make a night of it, 21c is offering a special package of dinner at Proof and New Year’s Eve accommodations for two, complete with a late check-out for $521.

Chef Paley’s four-course feast featuring local ingredients and holiday favorites begins with an Amuse Bouche of a Tiny Baked Potato with Crème Fraiche and Kentucky Spoonfish Caviar followed by a choice of either Kentucky Bison Tartare with grilled long bean salad and crisp sunchokes or Mozzarella Di Bufala with persimmon, opal basil, smoked salt and orange. The second-course is “Raviolaccia” with braised chicory, ricotta and sage brown butter. The entrée features a choice of Pan-Roasted Branzino with saffron mustard broth, finocchiona and rutabaga salad or Braised Lamb ‘Osso Bucco’ with celery root puree and a root vegetable “gremolata.” Save room for a sweet treat like the “Midnight Kiss,” a dark chocolate molten cake with raspberry mascarpone gelato. A post-dessert plate of confections will be sent to each table, compliments of the chef.
After dinner, dance the night away to the Motown/funk/disco/classic rock stylings of Decades, who will be playing from 10:30 p.m. until 1 a.m. in the Proof on Main bar. For guests who decide to attend the dancing portion of the evening only, there will be a $20 cover charge beginning at 10:30 p.m.
