I've heard that Nio's on Baxter Avenue has gone through a bit of a revamp and is now focusing on more small plate dishes and shuffled staff. There "All things Art" event this Saturday night January 19, 2008 seems like a prime opportunity to see and experience the changes/updates to the restaurant in person. The event will not only give you a chance to view some great art and speak with the artists but you'll also have the chance to sample some of those small plate dishes for free early in the evening and for half price later on.

nios @ 917 located at 917 Baxter will host an evening of artisans featuring sculptures, photo and digital. The featured artists are from Louisville and surrounding areas of Kentucky and have already garnered respected reputations among peers, consumers and critics.

nios @ 917 will serve complimentary small plate samples from 8:00p-9:00p. Starting @ 10:00p nios @ 917 will present selected Small Plates half off and selected wines by the glass half off plus $1 off all beers, drafts and bottles plus $5 Martini Specials.

Artist which will be there on hand to display their works as well as greet and meet are: Chris Buckler, photos; Donnie, Firkins, bronze sculptors (Bowling Green, KY); Matt Mellet, sculptor; Nick Jumblatt and Mark Grote are digital projection drawing masters; Jamie Lang, glass sculptor; and Beau Blake, paintings and drawings.

Music by Dark Matter (soul, funk) will begin at 10pm.
As we all know I'm totally up for any event that lets me view and talk about art particularly when they're giving me cheap and/or free food.
