According to Carmichael's "Bergeron uses the mythic quality of the North American great ape, Sasquatch, or Bigfoot, to craft a gripping page-turner that taps into our primal fears and basic instincts. Reminiscent of stories told around the campfire, The Devil's Ridge will make you wonder what is lurking in the shadows, just beyond the fire's light."

Artistic Director Shaun Popp says he chose the international theme this year for a slightly different twist on the traditional holiday concert repertoire. “We will take you on a musical journey to Great Britain, Russia, Spain, France, and a few other surprise destinations. Look for a rendition of “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies” you won’t see anywhere else. As with all VOICES Concerts, you can never count anything out!”![]()

The Frankfort Avenue Business Association's Olde Tyme Christmas on Frankfort Ave., will be held Saturday, December 1, 2007. Enjoy annual events, including the Santa Sprint Run and Stroll, Dog Walk, Horse Trams and Trolley service, along with Good Neighbor awards as well as various special events. For my money the highlight of the Olde Tyme Christmas is the Holiday Dog Walk: "Meet at the Crescent Hill Library Parking Lot at 10AM, Walk to Clifton and Frankfort and return back to Frankfort Ave. to the Library. Prizes for the most festive dog!" Call 585-3430 for more information. Yeah, I'm one of those crazy dog people.
Enjoy special sales and exhibits, holiday refreshments, free trolley rides and horse and carriage rides up and down Frankfort Avenue - from Mellwood to Cannons Lane. Santa can usually be found at the Water Company ready to talk with children
The total donations collected will be shared by three charities, one of which has been chosen already by Zen Garden. The other two will be chosen by popular vote.
So on the day before most of us stuff ourselves to the gills with turkey and all the trimmings enjoy a fantastic vegetarian meal, donate some money and cast your ballot for which deserving charities reap those donations.

Festivities begin at the civilized hour of 11AM. No one at Just Creations is going to be beating you with their purse at 4:45AM to grab the last handmade, fair trade, economic sustainability supporting cast iron salsa pig from Columbia. Good times last until at least 10:30PM.
I've heard that some excellent art buying and shopping opportunities will be going on at the Butchertown Market as well on Friday but I've yet to get any confirmation on that. As soon as I do I'll post it.
So much stuff is going on this weekend I don't know how you're going to choose between it all but I hope you squeeze a lot of it in.

The Courier says that LGE says that only 200 people are still without power after last night's storms. That's pretty impressive I think. It seems like most of those 200 are situated around Hillcrest in Crescent Hill. Obviously this begs the question "do the storm gods hate extensive Halloween displays or were they just trying to participate in the extensive Halloween displays?"
